Arabic Language Studies and Debate Center in Turkey

Reflecting on the development of Qatari-Turkish relations in various fields, QatarDebate Center – a member of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development- built new horizons of cultural cooperation by establishing the “Arabic Language Studies and Debate Center” in Fatih Sultan Mehmet University. In addition to a number of partnerships with leading institutes in Turkey along with organizing debate events and tournaments. These effort are a true translation of the agreement signed by His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in order to enhance cultural and academic cooperation between the two countries.

The Arabic Language Studies and Debate Center at Fatih Sultan Mehmet University was inaugurated as a result of a MOU between QatarDebate and the University, to be a starting point for university and national programs in the field of debate and Arabic language learning.

This poses as a great opportunity in expanding training services and organizing joint events, in addition to setting debates within the curricular framework within the teaching courses in universities, and urging researchers to use this field in their messages and research to enhance the scientific content.

Recently, a variety of activities were implemented under a training program entitled “About Debate”, which included several training workshops and discussion topics, in which dozens of students from five Turkish universities participated as the beginning for a project that will extend to other universities. This project was held under the center’s umbrella and under the supervision and training of an Elite Academy program in Turkey, Muhammad Al-Khanfas, who in turn seeks to transfer the experiences he has benefited from the academy’s programs to students.

Al-Khanfas expresses the importance of the center and its initiatives from the point of view of Turkey, saying: “Under this methodological umbrella, QatarDebate draws up the educational and practical strategy in order to build bridges between Qatar Foundation as a pioneer in this The field and between the beneficiary centers and bodies in all parts of the world, to deliver the message aimed at education and community development, as the agreement of the scientific approach that the institution calls for and the strategic framework that it takes to consolidate these sciences is unparalleled.”
