The 1st ICDD
QatarDebate Center – a member of Qatar Foundation – cordially invites you to submit an abstract of your research to present as a paper or a poster in the First International Conference on Debate & Dialogue to be held in Doha from 29 – 30 May 2023. ICDD is an open platform for discussing specialized academic issues that enrich our knowledge in the fields of debating, dialogue, argumentation, and other related fields such as philosophy, education, linguistics, and Islamic sciences. The participants will be scholars, researchers, academics and post-graduate students from the global network of the debate community.

Debate & Education
o Teaching debating skills: Argumentation, public speaking, critical thinking, research skills, etc.
o Teachers’ attitudes towards debate
o The role of debate in language teaching
o The role of debate in empowerment and capacity building
o Debate learning: Enablers and barriers
Submission Guidelines
- Abstracts in either Arabic or English are accepted (the language of the abstract should also be the language of conference presentation). Please use this link to fill the online conference application.
- Abstracts should be 300 words maximum.
- Submissions are invited for either complete or in-progress research work.
- The researcher(s) details including full name(s), affiliation(s), email(s) should be provided in the application.
- A short bio (in third person pronoun) should be provided (150 words maximum)
- Submissions are open to either one of the following two conference formats:
Paper:
- Accepted applicants are required to submit a preliminary draft paper of (around 2500 words) as per the deadline outlined below.
- Each presenter will have 20 minutes for presentation (PowerPoint) followed by a Q & A session.
Poster:
- Accepted applicants are required to submit the poster design as per the deadline shown below.
- Posters will have their own schedule in the conference program.

Travel Guidelines for International Participants
QatarDebate will provide the following: :
- Help with Visa
- Round trip tickets to Doha (only one presenter per paper or poster)
- Accommodation (only one presenter per paper or poster)
- Transportation between accommodation and conference venue
- Meals: Breakfast (at the hotel) and lunch (at the venue)
Participants are responsible for their transportation from and to the airport.
Registration Fees
- Local participants: QAR 100.
- International participants: QAR 365 (USD 100).
- Note: fees must be paid directly after the acceptance notification.
