The first batch of the Masters Program in the Art of Debate in Comparative Fik’h began its classes on Monday, October 3, 2022, at the headquarters of the Higher Institute of Islamic Sciences in Kairouan. This program comes within the qualitative partnership agreement between QatarDebate – a member of the Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development-and the Tunisian University – Ez-Zitouna University, with the aim of re-employing the science of debate rooted in the Islamic heritage in the educational process and the study of Islamic sciences. It is a tool of critical thinking and interaction with issues of comparative jurisprudence in contemporary societies.

The first batch includes 20 male and female students, between international and local students from Tunisia. QatarDebate was keen to select international students very carefully after they were subjected to a series of competitions, as the selection process went through several stages that ended with personal interviews. It is worth noting that the first batch of the program includes a group of successful students who hold a bachelor’s degree in Islamic sciences, in addition to some specialists in legal fields, and some who hold graduate degrees, which creates a distinct educational environment that provides an opportunity to exchange experiences and enrich student experiences.
