QatarDebate Open 2026: University of Doha for Science & Technology and DPS Modern Indian School Secure Top Honors
The QatarDebate Open (3v3) Championship concluded successfully on April 10–11, 2026, at the University of Doha for Science & Technology, bringing together top university and school teams from across Qatar.
The tournament featured 22 teams representing 9 institutions, with 33 debaters and 32 adjudicators, highlighting the growing momentum of debate culture and critical thinking among students nationwide.
Participants engaged in timely and thought-provoking topics, including the role of academic prestige in university choices, government support for elderly care, and critiques of “knowledge economy” careers. Advanced rounds tackled complex issues such as online trading platforms, environmental justice, and narratives around illness and recovery.

Results
The University of Doha for Science & Technology claimed the championship title, with Texas A&M University at Qatar finishing as runner-up.
Asiyil Alaswad was named Best Finals Speaker, while Mohamed Bakri and Victoria Honoridez took Best Speaker Overall honors.
In the Schools Category, DPS Modern Indian School secured first place, with another team from the same school as runner-up. Saara Bhardwaj won both Best Finals Speaker and Best Speaker Overall in the schools division.


Recognition
Winners were honored by Reem Al-Mosallam, Communications Manager at QatarDebate, and Eman Al-Sharshani, Manager of Student Engagement at the University of Doha for Science & Technology. The QatarDebate Open continues to reinforce the importance of constructive dialogue and empower youth with critical thinking skills essential for engaging with today’s challenges.
