Experts Explores the Future of the National Economy in the 3rd Qatar Connects session titled: Beyond Imports: Is Local the Way Forward?

Doha, Qatar, June 10, 2026: QatarDebate Center, a member of Qatar Foundation, concluded a high-level discussion session titled, “Beyond Imports: Is Local the Way Forward?” as part of the “QatarDebate Dialogues” series. Held on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, the session brought together prominent entrepreneurs, factory owners, and representatives from supporting institutions to discuss local production as a strategic necessity in light of rapidly accelerating global disruptions.

In his remarks, Mr. Abdulrahman Al-Subaie, Managing and Strategic Director at QatarDebate, emphasized that the discussion aimed to instill concepts of resilience, sustainability, and self-sufficiency, noting that this issue represents a national priority linked to Qatar’s sustainable development goals.

The session, moderated by media personality Mohammed Al-Hamadi, featured in-depth discussions on production priorities, government support frameworks, and the experiences of entrepreneurs in navigating supply chain challenges. Mr. Saud Al-Emadi, CEO and Founder of Inafra, highlighted resilience strategies in securing raw materials and praised the role of Qatar Development Bank in supporting the industrial sector. Furthermore, Ms. Fatima Al-Khater, co-founder of Torba Store, showcased the potential of local agricultural and artisanal products in meeting the rising demand for quality and sustainability, pointing to promising opportunities for exporting national products.

The session concluded that local production in Qatar has evolved from individual initiatives into a strategic national direction, aimed at building a resilient economy capable of efficiently facing future challenges.
