It is worthwhile to mention that the relationship between QatarDebate and the US started back when American universities and schools took part in QD annual international debating championship, since then many US universities and schools, inspired by QatarDebate, initiated Arabic debate clubs and hosted Arabic debate classes. QD initially conducted different set of training for debaters, coaches and judges in the year leading to the championship.

In Dec 2018, QatarDebate visited 5 university and conducted debaters and coaches training in each one, QD also conducted debate capacity building program in Chicago university last July, where QD trained professors and students from across the US to be judges and coaches. It featured 21 participants from many institutions, including Princeton, Harvard, NYU, Georgetown, etc.

In addition, 5 universities (Utah, WKU, Harvard, BYU, NYU) had previous experience in Debate during IUDC 2019.

Recently, QatarDebate strengthened its ties with various US educational institutions by conducting debate workshops and aiding in establishing debate clubs as well as discussing the introduction of debates to their educational curriculum.
