QatarDebate held on Wednesday evening, November 13, in cooperation with the Paris Peace Forum, a panel discussion entitled “The Role of Youth in Promoting South-South Cooperation” at the Chapsal Theatre, Paris. The session, which is part of the seventh edition of the Paris Peace Forum, which is held annually to support capacity building efforts and effective global coordination, addressed topics in line with the Forum’s theme, and focused on the importance of South-South cooperation and the potential offered by strengthening partnerships among developing countries, with a focus on how these alliances can promote economic growth, innovation and sustainable development without relying on traditional links with developed countries.

Explore how young people can be empowered to leverage common strengths and overcome challenges facing countries of the South. The efforts of the least developed countries to increase financial and technical resources and innovative solutions for building a more just and stronger Southern world.

Discussions also addressed the importance of strong partnerships between developing countries in promoting economic growth, innovation and sustainable development, in addition to the urgent need for effective international governance in light of the current global crises and major power conflicts. The session focused on how to address cross-border challenges by promoting South-South youth cooperation, contributing to building a more balanced world order.

This session, moderated by Hind Al Muftah – QatarDebate, comes as part of ongoing efforts to promote open dialogue and the active participation of young people in shaping their future, highlighting the importance of youth ideas and initiatives in a changing world. Speakers included the Director of the México Evalúa Foundation, Mariana Campos, Bora Kamwanya, Vice President of the African Youth Union, and Victoria Marquez, a student majoring in International Governance and Diplomacy.

He praised the importance of the distinguished partnership with Sciences Po, one of the most prestigious French universities, with the aim of further strengthening and consolidating the relationship of cooperation between us.

Fatima Al-Theyab – QatarDebate, stressed that the partnership with the Paris Peace Forum and the prestigious Sciences Po University is an important step in enhancing the role of youth and highlighting their vital role in global issues, and through this open session we learned about various models of creative youth ideas related to global affairs and from multiple perspectives.
