The inaugural session of “Qatar Connect” on the effect of sports on communities

QatarDebate – founded by Qatar Foundation for Education, Research and Community Development – kicked off on Wednesday 5 February 2025 the opening session of the “Qatar Connects” dialogue series to discuss sports topics in the State of Qatar in conjunction with the approach of Sports Day, which brought together a group of Qatari experts in the field of fitness and sports, to review their enriching experiences and personal sporting achievements and what they add to people’s lives in general.

The doalogue, moderated by Mead Al Emadi, Director of Events and Fan Experience at the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy, witnessed great interaction from the participants and was very successful in addressing topics related to Qatari youth initiatives such as health clubs and various sports events that inspired the public.

Mr. Azzam Al-Mannai, CEO of the Endurance Race – Samla – which is held annually over a distance of 300 km – participated in the session, Mrs. Arwa Al-Sulaiti – a fitness trainer and one of the first Qatari trainers and encouragers to adopt a healthy lifestyle. And the adventurer Fahd Badar – mountaineer and the first Arab to climb the peaks of Everest and Lonsi , Mr. Jassim Moosa Co-Founder of Erada Fitness and High Fitness Instructor at Crossfit.

The participants talked about the great services provided by sport to the community and the extent of its impact on cultural and social development. Through their inspiring and unique experiences in various sports fields, the speakers shed light on the personal achievements and transformative power of sport in Qatar, and its importance in forming the cornerstone for the development of sports activities in the Qatari society and the world, as it brings together athletes of different cultures, ideas and ages.

In conclusion, the speakers came out with the most important results and recommendations, where everyone agreed on the importance of integrating sports into daily life and searching for ways to increase physical activity, as it is a culture that must penetrate into the fabric of society, especially in the digital age and the emergence of some diseases associated with it as a result of relying on modern technologies and not making the necessary motor effort.
