Introductory debate workshop

The workshop aims to provide the basic skills needed by those interested in exploring the field of debate to become debaters, adjudicators or coaches. In this workshop we will discuss the philosophy of debate, and how to build a case and analyze various issues, in addition to the mechanism for building arguments and the roles of speakers.

  Overview The workshop series aims to enhance the ability of debaters to analyze and prepare strong and realistic cases on the issues related to the workshop topics and to enable them to dive deeper into the analysis by introducing them to the general frameworks of symmetry in these aspects and some basic terms and most important ideas. Skills Workshop 2: Debate Format In this workshop students are introduced to the debate format (Qatar Schools Debate Format).  Students are exposed to roles of speakers, time management, Points of Information, etc. Who can attend this workshop? All school students between age 14-18 who are interested in learning more about debates and become experienced debaters.   Date: Sunday 21th June, 2020. The “Debate Summer Camp” organized by QatarDebate will be hosting a group of distinguished debaters from high school students from Qatar, Kuwait and Oman. The camp’s program offers a wide range of training opportunities for students in the areas of debate, and Adjudicatory and it also develops their general knowledge. In addition, the camp seeks to develop students’ skills in moderating debates and discussion sessions through a training session to be held by the Aljazeera Media Institute.
