Great achievements for Team Qatar at the WSDC co-hosted by QatarDebate

Doha – QatarDebate Center

QatarDebate, a member of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development, has harnessed its mission to build common visions between the continents of the world through work programs and a wise methodology that requires youth participation and reliance on their creativity to carry the message to future generations and achieve the center’s desired goal in deepening debate skills.

QatarDebate has also been keen on preparing and qualifying the national debate team, at the hands of experienced and professional coaches who contributed to building the team’s capabilities.

Team Qatar’s achievement in this year’s participation in the world schools debating championship will be forever recorded in the pages of history after qualifying to the playoffs for the first time in the history of the World Schools Debating Championship in English, in which had the participation of 400 debaters representing 74 countries.

The members of the national team were distinguished by high competencies in debate and dialogue, and their skills were clearly evident through the capabilities that the team fought against its competitors in the global championship that took place during the period from July 25 to August 5, 2021 online via ZOOM.

The team consisted of young talented students, who represented Qatar in international debate forums. This team received training that refined their capabilities and represnt Qatar at international arenas in the best way possible, the team members were: “Wadha Al-Hamidi – Moza Al-Hajri – Sarah Al-Maadeed – Turkia Al-Thani.” – Al-Reem Al-Aqili.

The national team reached this distinction after a series of successes achieved in the past years, and the richest record of its victories since 2008, where Team Qatar participated in the World Debating Championship organized by a number of countries, namely Malaysia, Korea, India and New Zealand. This year, especially since the coach, Al-Anoud Al-Thani, a former member of Team Qatar, supported them in reaching victory against international teams and achieving the condition of competing at the top.

In this regard, we mention the awarding of the student, Wadha Al-Hamidi, as the tenth best speaker in the EFL category.
