QatarDebate organizes “Asian Arabic Debate Championship” in Malaysia

QatarDebate Center (QD) a member of Qatar Foundation (QF), has collaborated with the Ministry of Education and ministry of youth and sports in Malaysia as strategic partners to announce the “Asian Arabic Debating Championship”.

This event will feature 30 teams representing 30 universities from 18 countries from the Asian continent and some Arab countries, including Australia, Azerbaijan, China, India, Indonesia, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Korea, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Malaysia, Oman, Pakistan, Palestine, Qatar, Vietnam, and Yemen.

There are 3 participating teams from Qatar represent Qatar University, Police College, and Georgetown University in Qatar.

The championship will take place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from January 29 to February 3 and will be hosted by Islamic Science University of Malaysia as the co-organizer with participation of 200 debaters, adjudicators and volunteers.

It is worthwhile to mention that the main objectives of the championship are to spread the culture of debating and constructive dialogue, enhance the role of the Arabic language in different societies, strengthen and deepen ties among participating institutes in educational and cultural fields, establish a culture of maturity and tolerance that celebrates differences and diversity and encourage openness to other cultures and their different views, and encourage universities to establish debate clubs and spread this art within their educational curriculum.

Currently, QatarDebate is conducting pre-Asian Arabic Debating Championship workshops which include Adjudicator Academy in Malaysia and Debate Skills Workshop.
