QatarDebate – a member of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science, and Community Development- recently have participated for the first time at the twelfth annual Arab Conference at Harvard, entitled (Re)Imagining Home, held on Harvard University’s campus from April 5-7, 2019.

QatarDebate delegates have traveled to the United States in order to enhance the role of QatarDebate as a supporter of the conference and to complement cooperation with the American universities, in addition to presenting a debate workshop and a booth to highlight QD activities and events.

Abdulrahman Al-Subaie, Head of Outreach Program – QatarDebate, said: “The partnerships with American universities have been fruitful and they have begun to teach QatarDebate’s educational sources among their syllabus.” He praised the conference importance, which increased the participants’ desire to see what QD offered and facilitated future partnerships in America. QD center has taken a global approach in promoting the Arabic language.

Al-Subaie stressed the importance of participating in the conference where he said: “we have met with great personalities from various cultural backgrounds. The attendees were briefed on QD initiatives to spread Arabic among Arabs and other nationalities in general.”

For his part, Saad El-Asad, Debate Instructor said: “The turnout was great on the center’s booth and on its educational publications, especially dictionary of debating terms in Arabic and English, this Conference encourages more networking opportunities.”

Commenting on QD participating and sponsoring the conference, Dr. Mahmoud Barraj, Outreach Program Specialist said: “This conference is providing a valuable networking space between Qatardebate and many academic figures and educational institutions in the world, to exchange experiences on Arabic debate, and the importance of the nation’s culture of debate and work to find logical solutions that create the balance required between countries.”

It worth mention that the Arab Conference at Harvard is the largest pan-Arab conference in North America, bringing together nearly 1,300 students and professionals to discuss key issues with the region’s most prominent politicians, business people, and civil society leaders.
