QatarDebate organizes Qatar Secondary School Debate League Nationals

QatarDebate – member of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science, and Community Development- recently organized the Qatar Secondary School Debate League Nationals (QSDL) in English, hosted at Newton International Academy – Barwa City on Saturday, April 20. The Grand Final Debates were hosted at the College of Islamic Studies, Hamad bin Khalifa University on April 22 and 24, 2019. This year’s Nationals had the top teams from the two QSDLs for this debate season. We had Top 12 teams in the Open category and Top 8 teams in the EFL category for both boys and girls tournaments.

It worth mention that School wide points are accumulated by adding total wins and total points of top two teams from each school; Schools are ranked as per number of wins at both league tournaments.If schools have a tie on the number of wins, school with the higher total speaker points is ranked higher. Awards for Top 3 Schools in the League were handed out separately from the Nationals Grand Finalists.

For Open Category (girls) QD awarded DPS Modern Indian School as the champion, followed by Runner-up award to DeBakey High School. While EFL Category (girls) QD awarded Al Kawther Secondary School for Girls as the champion, followed by Runner-up award to Rabaa Aladawiya Secondary School for Girls. Moreover, for Open Category (boys) QD awarded DPS Modern Indian School as the champion, followed by Runner-up award to DeBakey High School. While EFL Category (boys) QD awarded Mosab bin Omair Secondary School for Boys as the champion, followed by Runner-up award to Omar bin Al Khattab Secondary School for Boys. Participants also received certificates of participation and the top 10 speakers received certificates and medals for their debate participation.
